The tire manufacturing industry brings jobs and investment to the U.S. economy. The tire industry supports more than 250,000 U.S. jobs totalling almost $20 billion in wages across our supply chain. USTMA member companies employ nearly 100,000 highly skilled workers, support charitable initiatives across the country, and invest billions of dollars engineering safe and sustainable tires.

Supporting the Community at Large

Made the largest land donation to The Nature Conservancy in Tennessee’s history, which adjoins protected forests, including the 10,000-acre Bridgestone/Firestone Centennial Wilderness previously gifted by Bridgestone Americas to the state of Tennessee. The land donated protects and enhances habitats for a range of endangered plant and animal species and provides connectivity to adjoining protected forests.

Supported disaster relief in Texas following Hurricane Harvey by donating to the American Red Cross. Employees volunteered in Houston and parts of Southern Texas.

Educates young drivers about tire and vehicle safety through its Tread Wisely program. Tread Wisely has reached hundreds of thousands of teens and young adults since the program’s launch in 2016.

Collaborates with South Carolina high schools on environmental issues by sponsoring the Giti Math and Science Award Program.

Goodyear held its second annual Global Week of Volunteering in 2018. With 22 Goodyear locations participating, including seven in the U.S., Goodyear associates provided more than 9,000 hours of volunteer service to more than 55 community organizations around the world.

Supports disabled American veterans through generous philanthropic giving as well as sponsoring a veteran mobility vehicle that takes veterans to medical appointments.

Supported the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure of Greater Atlanta through a sponsorship donation.

Works with South Carolina high school students interested in mechatronics and electronics through its Youth Apprenticeship program. Participants receive a minimum of 2,000 hours of on-the-job training with a Michelin mentor, plus 240 hours of related instruction at the career center.

Launched the Nokian Tyres Road to Sustainable Success, a three-pronged initiative that will support education, fund scholarships and promote sustainability in Southeast Tennessee.

Works with the local Boys & Girls Club in Rome, Ga., with a volunteer program for mentoring and helping with the robotics program. In an underprivileged community in New York City, Pirelli sponsors a soccer program for children in partnership with Inter Campus, the social responsibility project of Italian soccer team F.C. Internazionale Milan.

Volunteers have raised more than $136,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation through the company’s “Ride for Charity” program, a two-day golf event.

Supports the United Way, disaster relief efforts by the American Red Cross, and various educational institutions in Bartow County, Ga.

Planted 500,000 seedlings near production sites in both the U.S. and overseas through its Forever Forest program.
